Do I need to complete the ABC course before other certifications?
Yes, the ABC (Anatomy, Biomechanics and Cueing for Posture, Form and Alignment) course is a mandatory prerequisite for all Level I and Level II certification programs. This 15-hour foundation course provides essential knowledge about human anatomy, biomechanics principles, and postural analysis techniques that are crucial for safe and effective Pilates instruction.
While you don’t need to be an elite athlete, you should have a basic level of physical fitness and mobility. We recommend having some Pilates experience (at least 6 months of regular practice) before enrolling in instructor training. This helps you understand the movements and principles from a student’s perspective first.
No prior teaching experience is required. Our comprehensive training programs include extensive teaching methodology, practical teaching sessions, and observation hours designed to develop your instructional skills from the ground up. However, having experience in fitness, dance, or healthcare can be beneficial.
Students must be at least 18 years old to enroll in certification programs. There is no upper age limit – we welcome mature students who bring life experience and dedication to their Pilates practice.
Students should be in good general health and able to participate in physical training. If you have any medical conditions, injuries, or concerns, please discuss them with our education team during the application process. We can often accommodate students with certain limitations through modifications.
No, you don’t need to own equipment for training. Our fully-equipped studio provides all necessary apparatus for learning. However, having access to equipment for practice between sessions can be beneficial for skill development.
What scheduling options are available?
We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate different lifestyles: Weekday courses that run for 8 to 10 days or weekend courses that run on Saturays and Sundays over multiple weeks.
100% attendance is mandatory for certification eligibility. If you miss any class hours, you must schedule private review sessions at ₱5,600 per hour to make up the missed content. All missed hours must be completed before you can take the certification exam.
You must take your certification exam within 1 year of completing your course. This timeline ensures the material stays fresh while providing reasonable flexibility for exam preparation and completing outside class hour requirements.
Yes, our courses are designed to be completed over several days or weeks. For example, weekend courses typically spread a course over 2 months. Weekday courses are 8 to 10 consecutive days (with weekend breaks)
The recommended progression is: 1) ABC (prerequisite) – 15 hours, 2) Level I courses (APM I, APR I, APCCB I) – can be taken individually or as a package, 3) Level II courses (after completing corresponding Level I) – advanced training. Total training time ranges from 200-400+ hours depending on your chosen specializations.
In special circumstances (medical, family emergencies), we may allow a training pause. However, this must be discussed and approved by our education team, and may affect your certification timeline. Extended breaks may require additional review sessions.
What does the certification exam include?
Level I courses (APM I, APR I, APCCB I) include both written and practical exams. You must achieve 80% or higher on the written exam and pass the practical demonstration. Level II courses require only a practical exam. All exams assess your knowledge, teaching ability, and safety protocols.
Don’t worry – you can retake exams. Retake fees are: ₱8,400 for one exam retake, or ₱14,785 for two exam retakes.
Yes, PAI (Pilates Academy International) is globally recognized and follows international standards. Our certifications are accepted worldwide, making you eligible to teach Pilates in studios across different countries. We maintain affiliations with international Pilates organizations.
Timeline varies by program: ABC can be completed in 3 days, Level I programs typically take 3-6 months (depending on schedule choice), Level II programs take 2-4 months. Factor in additional time for completing outside class hours and exam preparation.
Beyond classroom hours, you must complete practice teaching, observation, and personal review hours. For example, APM I requires 25 hours practice teaching, 10 hours observation, and 15 hours personal review. All hours must be logged and submitted on exam day.
Yes. To keep your training current with PAI, you are required to complete 6 hours of Continuing Education Credits (CEC) every 2 years, which is one workshop per year.
